Little details like that mean a lot to a person like Michael that has poured his heart into his work for decades.

As far as the areas in which Michael practices law, he can offer his clients a plethora of options there too. He is experienced in real estate transactions, commercial litigation, State and Federal Court litigation, Co-op and Homeowners Association representation, business transactions, corporate and international law.

No matter what Michael is doing, he makes sure that he is doing it with purpose. Every decision he makes is made with his future in mind. A future that is sure to leave an impressive legacy, full of good works that Michael Aizin has done in each of the communities he has served.

Where did the idea for your career come from?

I needed an office to do business out of in New York, so I opened the office there in Brooklyn to service my clients in that area.

What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

In a typical day I meet with several clients or I am in court. I make it productive by making sure I stay on schedule, which isn’t hard when you are as busy as I am.

How do you bring ideas to life?

I think the best way to bring an idea to life is to ask a lot of questions. Then you will have a wealth of information that you can use to give that information life.

What’s one trend that excites you?

When everyone was forced to start working from home, they were using video services, like Zoom a lot more. At first, I wasn’t a fan but then I realized how much travel I would be saving. Plus, I started to realize that the clients seemed to be much more engaged when video chatting then they are over the phone. So I have started to get more excited about the possibilities of integrating this more into my regular usage.

What is one habit of yours that makes you more productive as an entrepreneur?

I am very regimented; I tend to wake up and go to bed at the same time and sometimes even frequently eat the same meals. Being a regimented person, I believe, can make you a much more productive person. You waste less time when you already know what is coming next in your schedule.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I would just prepare myself for how much the world is going to change. Specifically, when it comes to technology, so I’d want to be more prepared to embrace that.

Tell us something that’s true that almost nobody agrees with you on.

“It’s not what you know, it’s who you know”. A lot of people think being the smartest guy in the room will get you the farthest, but a good connection can get you a lot farther most of the time.

As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

Say “Thank you”. You’d be surprised how little I hear that these days.

What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business?

Get on the phone and call people. Sure, emails and even sending out mailers can be good marketing strategies, but people like to talk. When they have a conversation with you is when they can get a good feel of whether they can trust you which is very important for a lawyer. I have found that this strategy often results in more client referrals too, because of that trust you have built up, people feel better about recommending you.

What is one failure you had as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

I wouldn’t necessarily call it a failure but there were times in the beginning that I learned that I sometimes needed to ask for help. Sometimes when working cases, the workload can be extremely high. So, the lesson is, learn to ask for help when you need it.

What is one business idea that you’re willing to give away to our readers?

A virtual paralegal service for lawyers that want some short-term help.

What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why?

I recently sent a care package to a friend and their family when I heard that they had fallen ill. I think it is very important to take care of your neighbors.

What is one piece of software or a web service that helps you be productive?

Going back to what I was talking about before, Zoom has been a very helpful tool for meeting with clients remotely right now and I plan on using it more in the future.

What is the one book that you recommend our community should read and why?

Built, Not Born: A Self-Made Billionaire’s No-Nonsense Guide for Entrepreneurs by Tom Golisano. It was a great read, full of insight.

What is your favorite quote?

Albert Einstein: “Try not to become a man of success. Rather become a man of value.”

Key Learnings:

• Having a regimented schedule will help you be a more productive person. • Remember to say thank you and say it often. • Get on the phone and call people, you will form connections and before you know it they will start to refer new clients to you.

• Take care of your neighbors by doing something as simple as sending a meal when you hear of an illness.
